Colombo (#Team CNF) : The aftermath of a devastating landslide in the Balangoda-Gawaranhena-Vahinthanna area reveals the grim toll it has taken, as the bodies of the four individuals have been recovered from the debris. The landslide, triggered by heavy rains on Sunday (12), submerged a house, leaving a family of four missing.

Yesterday (13), the security forces, engaged in a challenging search and rescue operation, located the remnants of the house buried under the landslide caused by the Paskandak incident. The missing family included two daughters aged 10 and 16, a 45-year-old father, and a 40-year-old mother.

Amid the tragic discovery, three additional houses in the vicinity suffered damage due to the landslide’s impact. The security forces successfully rescued two elderly individuals who were trapped in one of the houses affected by the landslide.
