A former cricketer was tragically killed in a shooting incident that occurred tonight in the Kanda Mawatha area of Ambalangoda.
The victim, Dhammika Niroshana, a 40-year-old father of two and a resident of Ambalangoda Kanda Mawatha, was at home when two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle shot him before fleeing the scene. Niroshana had previously captained the Under-19 national cricket team.
According to police reports, Niroshana was allegedly affiliated with Dasun Manawadu, a notorious underworld figure who is believed to have fled to Dubai. Authorities suspect that the fatal shooting was orchestrated from Dubai, where Manawadu is currently in hiding.
The Ambalangoda Police are actively investigating the incident to gather more information and apprehend the perpetrators.
