Dr. Deepal Perera, a specialist at Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, Colombo, says that the number of childhood diseases has increased these days, including a rise in influenza cases.
Dr. Deepal Perera, who explains further about this,
“If cough and difficulty breathing, this may be a child’s asthma. Secondly, there is also the possibility of viral fever spreading. Even now, influenza and similar viral fevers are spreading. Viral fever, especially in the upper respiratory tract, has spread. That situation may further develop. Therefore, keep those children at home if they have a cough, cold, or fever as much as possible. If they have symptoms, wear a mask. After that, we should be careful about the increase in children’s liver and respiratory diseases. If the cough occurs at night, it may be childhood asthma. If the chest hurts along with cough and fever, it should be checked if the fever continues and it has become pneumonia. Diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract may increase with cold. So take care of children.”
