Minister of Transport, Highways, and Mass Media, Mr. Bandula Gunawardena, has lodged a police complaint against Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) national organizer Namal Rajapaksa. The complaint centers on an alleged unauthorized meeting organized by Rajapaksa in the Homagama area without prior notification.
Mr. Bandula Gunawardena asserts that Namal Rajapaksa’s actions constitute a breach of party discipline. Despite the complaint, the police have indicated that they are unable to take action on this matter.
Responding to the allegations, Mr. Namal Rajapaksa explained that he had visited the residence of former provincial council member Mr. Janaka Weliwatta at his invitation. He stated that he attended a tea party at Weliwatta’s home, where numerous party members gathered to meet him.
Additionally, political sources have pointed out that Mr. Bandula Gunawardena has not recently visited the party office in Nelum Mawatha.
