In line with the upcoming 2024 Esala Maha Perahera festival at Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, all licensed liquor retail outlets within the Kadawath Sathara and Gangawata Korale Divisional Division will be closed. The closure will be in effect from August 10, 2024, to August 20, 2024. This includes liquor shops in Kundasale and along the main road in the Naththaranpotha Grama Niladhari Domain up to the petrol station. The decision is part of the festival’s regulations to ensure a respectful and orderly celebration of the Esala Maha Perahera.
