Colombo: The Public Utilities Commission, chaired by Professor Manjula Fernando, has announced a significant 22.5% reduction in electricity tariffs, effective from tomorrow (16th).
Key highlights of the revised tariffs include:
Domestic Sector:
- The price per unit has been reduced from 8 to 6 rupees.
- Consumers using less than 30 units will see a 25% reduction.
- Users consuming between 30-60 units will benefit from a 55% reduction.
- For monthly consumption between 61-90 units, tariffs will also be reduced by 55%.
The electricity bill for consumption up to 90 units will now be priced at 6 rupees per unit in religious places.
