Teen Girl Found Dead Near Rubber Plantation in Nivithigala


Nivithigala police are investigating the suspicious death of a 16-year-old girl found with blood-stained wounds on her face on a footpath near a rubber plantation in Young Village, Watapotha.

The deceased has been identified as a schoolgirl from Wataphotha. According to the police, the girl’s mother, who runs a shop near Wathapotha Temple, had called her daughter to come to the shop on the day of the incident. However, when the girl did not arrive, her mother went looking for her and discovered the body on a footpath in the rubber plantation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the girl may have been struck by a falling branch from a rubber tree while walking home. Police are continuing to investigate the exact cause of death.
