In a heartbreaking incident, a four-year-old girl has succumbed to injuries after being bitten by a stray dog in the Kandavalai area of Kilinochchi. The attack occurred on the 10th of this month.
According to local residents, the girl’s parents did not seek the rabies vaccine or necessary medical treatment following the bite. The child was admitted to Kilinochchi hospital a few days later when she fell suddenly ill, but tragically, she passed away on the 27th.
Hospital authorities have confirmed that the girl’s death was due to the dog bite. It has also been reported that four other individuals bitten by the same dog have sought medical treatment.
The Kandavalai Public Health Inspectors are currently conducting further investigations into the incident.
