Weather Alert: Rain and Strong Winds Expected in Multiple Provinces

The Department of Meteorology has issued a statement forecasting several periods of rain across the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts today.

According to the announcement, there may be rain or thundershowers in a few places in the Uva province during the evening or night.

Additionally, the western slopes of the central hills, along with the northern, north-central, and north-western provinces, and the districts of Trincomalee, Hambantota, and Monaragala, are expected to experience intermittent winds. These winds could reach speeds of 40–50 km/h, with the possibility of strong gusts.

The Department of Meteorology advises residents to take necessary precautions to mitigate the risks associated with temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thundershowers.
