Increased Fines for Unlicensed Mobile Phone Sales Announced

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) has enacted a substantial increase in fines for companies that sell phones without proper licenses. Under the newly revised Telecommunications Regulatory Act, the penalty has been escalated from ten thousand rupees to one million rupees.

The TRC has emphasized that the revised law will be rigorously enforced, targeting shops that fail to secure the necessary licenses.
