Hospitals across the nation will be impacted by the Government Medical Officers’ Association’s (GMOA) planned nationwide strike starting tomorrow. According to Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, the association’s spokesperson, the strike is the result of disciplinary action taken against Dr. Palitha Rajapaksa, the GMOA’s Uva Provincial Coordinator and Assistant Secretary, without a written complaint.
The Health Ministry is under pressure from the GMOA to restructure, and they have set a 14-day ultimatum. The Central Committee will decide on additional actions at the end of the month if nothing is done.
