A 26-year-old man was fatally shot at the Gamunupura Pullair junction in the Sripura area early this morning (16th), according to police reports.
The victim, a resident of Kawantissa Pura in Sripura, was attacked by an unknown assailant who approached on a motorcycle. The gunman opened fire with what is believed to be a T56 assault rifle, and fled the scene immediately after the shooting. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Authorities have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear at this time.
