Night Mail Train Delayed Due to Engine Fault on Upcountry Railway

CNFadmin

The Nawalapitiya Railway Controller has reported that a technical fault in the engine of the night mail train traveling from Colombo Fort to Badulla caused a blockage on the railway line between Hatton and Rozella stations this morning (August 8). As a result, the train has been immobilized for nearly five hours.

Passengers on the train remain onboard as railway officials work to resolve the issue. The Railway Department has confirmed that once mixed freight train number 1126 arrives at Hatton railway station from Kandy, the engine will be used to tow the affected night mail train to Hatton station.

The Nawalapitiya Railway Control Room announced that train services between Colombo Fort and Badulla are expected to resume regular operations shortly after the night mail train is moved.
