The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather update indicating intermittent rain in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts. The North-Western Province, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts may also experience occasional showers.
In the Uva Province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts, rain or thundershowers are expected at a few locations during the evening or night.
The western slopes of the central hills, along with the northern, north-central, and north-western provinces, and the districts of Trincomalee, Hambantota, and Monaragala, are likely to experience strong winds ranging from 40-50 km/h.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate the risks associated with temporary strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
