President Ranil Wickremesinghe has authorized the deployment of armed forces nationwide to ensure public safety, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena informed Parliament today (02). This directive, issued under Section 12 of the Public Security Act, empowers the President to take necessary measures under emergency provisions.
