Sri Lanka Sees 1.39 Million Tourists in 2024

According to the most recent data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), 1,395,773 foreign tourists arrived in Sri Lanka between January 1 and September 8, demonstrating the continued growth of the country’s tourism sector in 2024. With 218,350 visitors, February witnessed the largest influx; nevertheless, both January and March also saw robust numbers, with both months above 200,000.

Important travel markets that are fueling this expansion include China, Germany, Russia, India, and the UK. The most recent data indicates that Sri Lanka is getting closer to the 1,487,303 tourists it saw all of last year, indicating a sustained resurgence for the sector.
