In a recent special gazette notification, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has assumed the portfolio of Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs, and Constitutional Reform. This move comes in response to Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe’s resignation from the position as he prepares to run for the upcoming presidential election.
Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake confirmed that this decision was made following consultations with the Prime Minister, in accordance with Article 44(3) of the Constitution.
