Veteran and esteemed radio journalist, Mrs. Sumana Jayathilaka, has passed away. Renowned as the founding anchor of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation’s popular program “Handa Mama,” she was affectionately known as “Handa Nanda.”
Mrs. Jayathilaka began her illustrious career in 1963 as an announcer with Sri Lanka Airlines and eventually retired as an Additional Director General in 1984. She was the beloved wife of the late K. Jayathilaka.
Her contributions to radio journalism and her legacy in the industry will be fondly remembered.
