Sri Lanka Honored as the Best International Tourism Board!

The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau has been recognized as the Best International Tourism Board at the Global Tourism Awards today (2nd August).

The award ceremony, organized by Travel World Online, took place in New Delhi, India. The Minister of Tourism, Lands, Sports and Youth Affairs, Mr. Harin Fernando, attended the event and accepted the award on behalf of Sri Lanka.

This prestigious awards ceremony serves as a platform to honor and celebrate organizations that have made significant contributions to the tourism industry, driving positive change. As a result, Sri Lanka received this highly esteemed accolade.

In recent years, Sri Lanka has experienced a record influx of tourists, making it one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations worldwide. It has been ranked among the best countries for women travelers. and recognized as the 5th best place to visit in a lifetime, according to the prestigious CEOWORLD magazine’s 2024 ranking.

Additionally, the renowned Forbes magazine included Sri Lanka among the 23 best tourist destinations globally in 2023.

The Sri Lankan tourism industry faced significant challenges following the Easter attacks, the Covid-19 pandemic, and the economic crisis last season. However, by overcoming these obstacles, Sri Lanka’s tourism sector has made remarkable progress. Receiving this award in New Delhi, India, is a tremendous achievement for Sri Lanka.
