Sri Lanka Electricity Bill to Be Debated in Parliament Next Week

The second reading of the Sri Lanka Electricity Bill is set to be debated in Parliament next week, according to the Communications Department of Parliament.

This decision was made during the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs meeting chaired by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

The debate is scheduled for June 6, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The Sri Lanka Electricity Bill includes proposed reforms in the power sector and aims to increase private sector participation.

Parliament is scheduled to convene from June 4 to June 7, 2024.
