Colombo, Dec. 3 (CNF) – The month of November has recorded around 2.1 million tourists for the year so far.
Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) Chairman Buddhika Hewawasam said that hotels and guesthouses in tourist zones have resumed operations and that the sector is rapidly recovering.
He added that many foreign visitors have already arrived and expressed satisfaction with their tours. No major negative incidents have been reported since the disaster.
Following the recent natural disasters, key cultural and historic sites such as Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, and Polonnaruwa have reopened to the public, along with all major wildlife parks, including Yala National Park, and marine attractions around popular spots like Mirissa.
Tourism officials say the rebound shows that Sri Lanka is once again ready to welcome travellers, emphasising safety and hospitality as the country reopens its cultural and natural heritage to visitors.
