The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) have arrested three people for sharing content about the banned LTTE organization on social media.
The suspects, aged 28, 35, and 45, are from Maradana, Chunnakam, and Baddegama.
Police say they posted photos and videos of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran on Facebook. They also shared old videos from LTTE Maaveerar Naal events, making it seem like they were from this year.
The suspects face charges of inciting public unrest, promoting a banned group, and spreading false information. These arrests were made under the Penal Code and the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
The CID and TID are continuing their investigations. Authorities have warned they will take strict action against activities that break the law and harm national harmony.
