After reportedly assaulting a man who declined to accept a campaign leaflets for Sajith Premadasa, the SJB presidential candidate, a Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) seat organizer was taken into custody in Nawalapitiya.
The complainant rejected an election brochure that the 41-year-old suspect—a Bawwagama resident—was handing out in the neighborhood, which set off the altercation. The victim received medical treatment at Nawalapitiya Hospital, and his attacker remains in custody by the police.
