Today (18) at its headquarters, the Election Commission of Sri Lanka is hosting an important conference with international election observers. In advance of the next presidential election, this meeting represents the commission’s and observers’ first official communication together.
Representatives from the Commonwealth Observer Group (COG) and the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL), which will be stationed in many districts to monitor the election process, are among the important attendees.
PAFFREL (People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections) has emphasized the need for peace and stability during the last week of the election cycle as election monitoring gets underway. The people was comforted by PAFFREL’s Executive Director, Rohana Hettiarachchi, who urged them to disregard false rumors and have faith in the electoral process.
It is anticipated that the conversations would be crucial to guaranteeing credibility and openness in the next surveys.
