President Ranil Wickremesinghe Dismisses Four State Ministers in Major Cabinet Shake-Up

With immediate effect, four State Ministers have been removed from their offices by President Ranil Wickremesinghe. Premalal Jayasekara, State Minister of Ports and Aviation Services; Indika Anuruddha, State Minister of Power & Energy; Mohan Priyadarshana de Silva, State Minister of Agriculture; and Siripala Gamlath, State Minister of Highways, are the ministers impacted by the judgment.

The decision was made in accordance with the powers granted to the President by Article 47(3)(a) of the Sri Lankan Constitution, according to a statement released by the President’s Media Division (PMD).

Since all four of the dismissed ministers have openly endorsed Namal Rajapaksa, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) presidential candidate, political tensions have escalated in the wake of this dramatic reorganization.

SLPP district leaders for Galle and Gampaha, respectively, were recently appointed: Mohan Priyadarshana de Silva and Indika Anuruddha. Their removal at an odd time has sparked conjecture about possible changes in political allegiances in advance of the next presidential elections.
