Beginning on August 6, 2024, India’s first-ever biannual multinational air combat exercise, “TARANG SHAKTHI,” included a significant contribution from Sri Lanka Air Force Beechcraft aircraft. 150 aircraft from 11 participating countries participate in the famous event, and 18 more countries watch from the sidelines. TARANG SHAKTHI is thought to be evidence of India’s expanding power in international defense alliances.

The exercise is being undertaken in two phases. From August 6–14, 2024, at Sulur Air Force Station in Tamil Nadu, the first phase was successfully completed. At the Jodhpur Air Force Station in Rajasthan, the second phase is presently in progress and is scheduled to conclude on September 14, 2024. Seventy to eighty aircraft, including Sri Lanka Air Force Beechcraft, are involved in each step, helping to make this high-profile event a success.

Sri Lanka’s involvement in TARANG SHAKTHI demonstrates the country’s dedication to strengthening its military ties with India and other foreign allies. The engagement also furnishes beneficial training prospects for aircrew from Sri Lanka, augmenting their operational proficiencies and fortifying defense relations within the vicinity.
