At the Paris Paralympic Games, Samita Dulan Kodithuwakku of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Military Police accomplished an incredible achievement by winning a silver medal in the men’s F44 javelin throw category. With a throw of 67.03 meters, Kodithuwakku created a new world record, showcasing his extraordinary talent and perseverance on the global arena.

In spite of breaking the record, Kodithuwakku took home the silver medal in the F64 category, while Sumit Antil of India won the gold with a throw of 70.59 meters.

One of the best results by a Sri Lankan athlete in Paralympic history is this silver medal victory. Kodithuwakku is the sole person from Sri Lanka to win a medal in the 2024 Paralympics after his success in Paris. He had earlier earned a bronze medal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games in 2020.

Sri Lanka is proud of Kodithuwakku’s remarkable achievement, which reflects both his commitment and the rising stature of the country’s competitors at the Paralympic Games worldwide.
