West Indies Women’s Team Clinches Victory Over Sri Lanka in T20 Series Finale


The West Indies women’s cricket team triumphed over Sri Lanka in the final match of the Twenty20 series, securing a 6-wicket win on June 28.

Sri Lanka, batting first, posted a total of 141 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Key contributions came from Chamari Atapattu with 38 runs, Harshitha Samarawickrama with 28 runs, and Kavisha Dilhari with 26 runs. West Indies bowlers Aaliyah Alleyne and Afy Fletcher each claimed two wickets, restricting the Sri Lankan side effectively.

In pursuit of a target of 142 runs, the West Indies team reached the mark in 19.5 overs, losing only 4 wickets. Hayley Matthews led the charge with a solid 49 runs, supported by Shemaine Campbelle who added 41 runs to the tally. Kavya Kavindi was notable in Sri Lanka’s bowling attack, taking two wickets.
