Jay Shah is the youngest individual to hold the role of Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), having been elected without opposition. On December 1, 2024, Shah—who presently holds the positions of Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Honorary Secretary for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)—will formally take on his new responsibilities. After Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar, he is the sixth Indian to head the ICC.

Shah was elected after outgoing ICC Chair Greg Barclay decided not to run for a third term, which allowed Shah to assume leadership. During his acceptance speech, Shah underlined his dedication to taking cricket worldwide and cited its selection in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as a turning point in the sport’s development. He conveyed his excitement about collaborating closely with the ICC staff and member countries to take the sport to new audiences and harmonize its many forms with cutting-edge technology.

Barclay will step down as ICC Chair on November 30, having led the organization through a pivotal time in the history of international cricket. Barclay has held the position from November 2020.
