In a significant development today (17), the Supreme Court approved the withdrawal of a petition filed by former State Minister Mrs. Diana Gamage. The petition sought to overturn the decision by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) to strip her of her parliamentary position.
During today’s hearing, Mrs. Gamage’s legal representatives informed the court that maintaining the petition was no longer necessary. They formally requested permission to withdraw the petition.
The Supreme Court granted their request, allowing the petition to be withdrawn.
