A digital board was discovered yesterday alongside seven newly uncovered human skeletons at the Kokkuthuduwai mass grave in Mullaitivu. Due to the inability to access its contents, excavation officials have notified Magistrate Mr. Dharmalingam Pradeepan of the need for a special inspection.
Three of the seven newly unearthed skeletal remains have been carefully retrieved and stored, adding to the collection of 40 bone samples previously found. The remaining four skeletons will also be preserved in the coming days.
Following the recovery of these recent discoveries, plans are underway to commence excavation in other sections of the mass grave site.
Mullaitivu Magistrate and United Nations Human Rights Officer Mrs. Ludhiana Selreen Akhilan were present at the site overseeing operations when the new skeletons and digital board were uncovered.
