Minister Bandula Gunawardena says that even if the government wants to solve the wage disparities in the public sector, it is not possible to get additional financial allocations for it through the 2024 budget document.
The Minister points out that a committee consisting of the President’s Secretary and the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance has already been appointed to provide solutions to the problems related to wages, including salary discrepancies related to government departments, government corporations, and statutory bodies.
Accordingly, Minister Bandula Gunawardena stated in a press conference held at the Presidential Media Center that the Cabinet led by President Ranil Wickramasinghe has reached a decision to propose solutions and provide complete solutions in the 2025 budget document.
