North Central Provincial Education Director S.M.W. Samarakoon announced that three employees, including the invigilator and assistant invigilator at Rathmale Thissa Maha Vidyalaya in Anuradhapura, would be suspended after an investigation into the leakage of a Grade 5 Scholarship Examination question paper.
Initial inquiries showed that prior to the exam, the assistant invigilator had sent photos of the exam paper to teachers of private classes through a social network group. The Examinations Department summoned ten educators from Nochchiyagama and Anuradhapura to Colombo to make statements after they were rumored to have received the leaked document.
A re-examination is being demanded by approximately 100 parents who filed complaints with the Anuradhapura police, citing the leak that happened during the scholarship exam last Sunday (15).
