For the first time, women’s teams will compete for the same prize money as men at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024, making it a historic event. The decision was made seven years ahead of schedule and was made public at the ICC Annual Conference in July 2023. This becomes cricket the only major team sport where the prize money for the men’s and women’s World Cup events is equal.

The prize fund for the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2024 has increased by 225% to $7.96 million. The champions of the competition will pocket $2.34 million, while the runner-ups will pocket $1.17 million. In line with the men’s competitions, teams will likewise get equal compensation for winning matches and placing, with more teams and matches contributing to the larger men’s prize pool.

At Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh will play Scotland on October 3 to kick off the competition. To determine the 2024 winners, the ten competing teams will play 23 matches in Dubai and Sharjah.
