Following six visits from July to September, Cordelia Cruise Lines concluded its second season of cruise calls at the Hambantota International Port (HIP) in September 2024. More than 5,000 travelers visited Sri Lanka as a result of these visits, enhancing HIP’s expanding standing as a major hub for international cruise travel.

In June 2023, Cordelia Cruise Lines, a company that provides vacation packages to both domestic and foreign tourists, began sailing from Chennai to Sri Lanka. The cruise line has now made sixteen visits at the port of Hambantota.

In the future, Cordelia is scheduled to launch its sixth season of calls to HIP in June 2025 and run through September. According to a statement from the Hambantota International Port, the port’s growing significance in the global tourism scene is highlighted by the ongoing integration of cruise ships into HIP’s operations, which also benefits the local economy by sustaining a steady stream of tourists.
