On September 3, 2024, the Sri Lanka Navy and Police conducted a joint operation and captured two suspects in the Arippu region of Silawathura. The accused had 31.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ICE), which was ready for sale. An illegal motorbike was also seized as a result of the operation, which was directed by Northwestern Naval Command’s SLNS Therapuththa and aided by Mannar’s Divisional Crime Detective Bureau.
The narcotics and the motorcycle were brought into custody along with the suspects, who are both 35-year-old Mannar residents. The estimated street value of the drugs found in the possession of the authorities is Rs. 298,300.
The suspects, narcotics, and motorcycle were turned over to Mannar Police for additional legal action after the operation.
