President Ranil Wickremesinghe Receives Blessings at Anuradhapura’s Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi

President Ranil Wickremesinghe paid homage to the historic Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura this morning (17), where he received blessings from the Maha Sangha.

Upon his arrival, the President first met with Atamasthanadhipathi Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thero to inquire about his well-being and engage in a brief discussion. Following this, President Wickremesinghe proceeded to Udamaluwa, where he performed religious rites. The Maha Sangha, led by Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thero, chanted Pirith and offered blessings to the President.

During the ceremony, Ven. Ralapanave Dhammajothi Thera, head of the historic Lankarama Vihara in Anuradhapura, delivered a special exhortation, highlighting President Wickremesinghe’s commitment to safeguarding the Sambuddha Sasana in Sri Lanka, which he said would lead to future successes.

The President also took the opportunity to interact with the devotees present at the site, engaging in friendly conversations and listening to their concerns.

Several prominent political figures, including Ministers Prasanna Ranatunga, Kanchana Wijesekera, Bandula Gunawardena, State Ministers Shehan Semasinghe, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, and Members of Parliament Vajira Abeywardena, Duminda Dissanayake, SM Chandrasena, and Sampath Athukorala, attended the event. North Central Province Governor Mahipala Herath, Presidential Chief of Staff and Senior Adviser on National Security Sagala Ratnayake, as well as former Ministers Manusha Nanayakkara, P. Harrison, and former Chief Minister S.M. Ranjith, were also present.
