Former Minister Harin Fernando has issued a challenge to Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, suggesting that he should appoint Hirunika Premachandra to the vacant National List parliamentary seat of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) party if it is feasible.
Speaking at the Ekwa Jayagamu meeting in Badulla, Fernando asserted that while Premachandra could potentially be granted the National List MP position, certain media channels might obstruct Sajith Premadasa from assuming the seat.
Fernando criticized the influence of private media channels on the country’s politics, and emphasized that he would regard Premadasa as an independent leader if Premachandra were appointed to the parliamentary seat, despite these challenges.
