A New Zealand woman has been sentenced to two months in prison for animal cruelty after her pet dog, Nugai, died due to extreme obesity. Nugai, who weighed 53 kg at the time of death, suffered from severe health issues caused by being overfed without limits. The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals intervened, leading to legal action against the owner. In addition to the prison term, the woman was fined NZ$720 and is banned from owning dogs in the future.
