A weather update from the Department of Meteorology suggests that the Southern Province may see rain or thundershowers. In the meantime, rain is predicted sporadically in the districts of Kandy and Nuwara Eliya, as well as in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces.
In the evening or night, there may be sporadic showers or thundershowers in the provinces of Eastern and Uva.
Furthermore, sections of the North-Central and Southern provinces as well as the western slopes of the central highlands are expected to experience gusty gusts of 40 to 45 km/h.
The general population is advised to take preventative action to lessen the dangers associated with lightning and brief, strong winds during thunderstorms.
