According to reports in international media, Tito Jackson, one of the original members of the renowned Jackson 5, has yesterday at the age of 70. Jackson’s family and close friends verified the cause of death, although it has not yet been made public. In the 1960s and 1970s, Tito, his siblings Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and the late Michael Jackson, became internationally famous thanks to hits that catapulted the group to prominence.
In 1997, The Jackson 5 were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame after selling over 150 million records. Recently, Tito—who played guitar and sang backup—and his brothers traveled to Munich, where they gave a performance and paid respects to a Michael memorial. The band had just finished up a run of European shows, which included an appearance at the UK’s Boogietown Festival.
In addition, Tito pursued a solo blues music career, putting out tracks as recently as 2016. Among the Jackson siblings, which also include Janet and La Toya Jackson, he was the third oldest.
