The Public Security Ministry has confirmed that all the security measures are in place and promised that there won’t be a curfew on election day. The Special Task Force (STF) and the police will be in charge of overseeing security activities during the election period, with the tri-forces ready to step in and offer more assistance if needed, according to Public Security Ministry Secretary Viyani Gunathilaka.

In response to inquiries concerning possible curfew restrictions after the September 21 vote, Gunathilaka made it clear that no plans for such an action are in place at the moment. He pointed out that the President would ultimately decide whether or not to implement a curfew.

Additionally, Gunathilaka disclosed that more than 500 electoral rallies have taken place across the country without any notable occurrences. He reaffirmed the police’s dedication to guaranteeing a free, fair, and peaceful election, emphasizing their continued efforts to uphold law and order during this critical time.
