At a press conference conducted yesterday (11) at President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s political office on Flower Road in Colombo, renowned actor Roger Seneviratne hailed the President for his critical role in steering Sri Lanka away from possible destruction and restoring stable governance. Seneviratne emphasized the significance of the approaching choice on September 21, imploring the public to choose between ensuring the country’s recovery and risking greater catastrophe.
The event also included a show of solidarity from Sri Lankan artists, who highlighted the art sector’s slow revival following the 2022 financial crisis. These artists commended President Wickremesinghe’s efforts with reviving the industry, which had been badly hampered by repeated national challenges.
Furthermore, the National Youth Services Council, established under President Wickremesinghe’s leadership, was acknowledged for its tremendous contribution to the arts. This effort has helped to nurture many of Sri Lanka’s senior artists, ensuring a bright future for the country’s creative community.
