Rumors that 80 ministers have secured visas to depart Sri Lanka following the forthcoming presidential election were refuted by Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles. Alles stressed to the media yesterday (11), while on a visit to the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, that such assertions were probably unfounded and politically driven, since election campaigns frequently give rise to false accusations.
In response to a query concerning his personal intentions, Alles said that he is in possession of a long-term visa, which permits him to reside in any nation for a maximum of 10 years, guaranteeing he won’t need a visa to depart Sri Lanka following the election. He emphasized that there was no need for such steps and angrily refuted that any Ministers were looking to leave the country.
These comments coincide with mounting conjecture, as some Opposition members have suggested that officials may be getting ready to depart the nation after the election.
