Under enhanced security measures, the Department of Posts has started delivering sealed postal votes to district election offices. Rajitha Ranasinghe, senior deputy postmaster general, attested to the fact that increased security is in place for this. Polling card distribution to households is also proceeding; a special day, the eighth, has been scheduled to guarantee that every voter receives their card.
The presidential election’s third day of mail-in voting is taking place today, with polling places open from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Government workers can vote at more than 1,500 locations, and for those who are unable to vote today, there will be additional voting opportunities on the 11th and 12th.
This year, 712,319 government workers are qualified to vote by mail. The PAFFREL Executive Director, Rohana Hettaarachchi, reports that the voting process has been calm and that every effort is being made to guarantee a safe and orderly election.
