During a recent “Ask Me Anything” session with the professionals’ forum, President Ranil Wickremesinghe pledged to improve the nation’s digital infrastructure in order to address the persistent delays in passport issuance.
Wickremesinghe gave the public confidence that passport digitization will continue to be a top priority. “We will not give up on the digital passport program,” he said, highlighting how crucial it is to update the framework.
The necessity of digitization in a number of areas, including the labor market, was also discussed by the president. “Digitalization should start in the labor sector,” he declared. We are going to apply it to every industry.
Wickremesinghe talked about initiatives to expand chances for young people in response to questions about Sri Lankans looking for work elsewhere. “We should increase the number of groups traveling abroad and encourage our young people to look at opportunities abroad. To help with this expansion, I am in talks with countries in East Asia,” he stated.
Wickremesinghe also introduced a new training program designed to get young Sri Lankans ready for the global employment market. “50,000 youth will receive financial assistance for vocational training at public or private institutions. We want to provide them the tools they need to be successful in the world,” he said.
The President’s larger commitment to boosting digital infrastructure and expanding job prospects for young Sri Lankans is reflected in this effort.
