In the next 2024 presidential election, Ashoka Priyantha, the state minister for home affairs, has declared his support for President Ranil Wickremesinghe. The media said that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP made his intentions known during a meeting today at Temple Trees in Colombo that was presided over by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. Priyantha has announced her support for President Wickremesinghe in the next election, joining an increasing number of SLPP MPs in doing so.
