Legal Alliance Challenges Harin Fernando’s New Presidential Adviser Role After Supreme Court Verdict

CNFadmin

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya Legal Alliance has raised concerns over the appointment of Harin Fernando as a presidential advisor following the Supreme Court’s decision to remove him from his ministerial positions. The alliance representatives brought the issue to the Election Commission, protesting Fernando’s new role, which reportedly mirrors the ministries he previously held.

The Supreme Court recently upheld the Samagi Jana Balawegaya’s decision to expel Fernando from party membership, leading to the loss of his parliamentary seat and his positions as Minister of Sports, Tourism, and Lands. Despite this, Fernando’s new appointment as a presidential advisor in the same sectors has sparked controversy, prompting the legal alliance to formally lodge a complaint.
