CNFadmin

The Election Commission has announced a new voting procedure for this year’s presidential election. According to Mr. R.A.L.M. Rathnayake, President of the Election Commission, voters are required to mark their votes by writing the number 1 for their first preference, and numbers 2 and 3 for their subsequent preferences.

Rathnayake also revealed that educational programs will be organized to guide the public on this new voting method.

During the vote-counting process, only the first-choice votes will be counted initially. If a candidate secures over 50% of the total votes in this first round, the additional preferences will not be tallied.
