Ireland Triumphs in Final T20 Match to Level Series 1-1 Against Sri Lanka

In the second and final T20 match of their series, the Irish women’s cricket team secured a 7-run victory over Sri Lanka, resulting in a 1-1 draw for the series. The match took place on August 13th in Dublin, Ireland.

Winning the toss, Ireland chose to bat first and set a challenging target, scoring 173 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Gabby Lewis led the charge with an impressive 119 runs off 75 balls, including 2 sixes and 17 fours. Orla Prendergast contributed 38 runs to the total.

In response, Sri Lanka could only manage 166 runs, losing 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Despite Harshita Samarawickrama’s stellar performance, scoring 65 runs from 44 balls, and Kaweesha Dilhariā€™s 51 runs, the Sri Lankan team fell short of the target.

In the bowling department, Orla Prendergast and Fia Sargant each took 2 wickets for 28 runs, playing a crucial role in Ireland’s victory. For Sri Lanka, Shashini Jumni and Achini Kulasuriya each claimed 1 wicket, conceding 28 and 36 runs, respectively.
